Alarm Symptoms

1. The child must urinating less than 2 times in 24 hours and drinking less than half of what it would normally drink. Fluid from fruits, porridge and applesauce also count as fluids.

3. Children may be hungrier, but may not be slow or react badly.

4. A bare chest that goes up and down very quickly or that the chest pulls all the way in at the upper abdomen. Small children may experience groaning breathing.

5. The child is inconsolable.

6. An infant up to 3 months of age should NOT have a fever unless they have had a vaccination.
