Nivel care registration
Many care providers in the Netherlands participate in the data collection of NIVEL Zorgregistraties eerste lijn. NIVEL collects the data from primary care on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport in order to monitor health and healthcare in the Netherlands. The data are used for research into the following questions:
- What are the health problems in the Dutch population?
- How much and what kind of care does the Dutch population use?
- What is the quality of care provided in the Netherlands?
Answers to these questions are published on this NIVEL website, as well as in reports, (professional) journals and, for example, on the websites of RIVM and CBS.
Quality improvement of care and health
The ultimate goal of NIVEL Care Registration is to contribute to quality improvement of care and health in the Netherlands. This contribution is not only made via the research results that end up in policy and guidelines, but also via the care providers that participate in NIVEL Care Records. These care providers receive feedback on the care they have provided and how that care differs from the care provided by others. They can use this mirror information to improve the quality of their care.
Protection of privacy
Huisartsenpraktijk Brouwer participates in the collection of data for scientific research by the Dutch Institute for Healthcare Research (Nivel). The Nivel has a very strict privacy policy and does not receive any information from us that would allow direct identification of patients. Patients can request more information from our healthcare provider(s) and also register any objections there. Does your healthcare provider also participate?
Care providers participating in NIVEL Zorgregistraties state this on their website. In addition, they have information posters and leaflets available for patients in the waiting room. The information leaflets also describe how patients can object to their data being recorded.
